Retail Development

In 1956, Hal Waldo served as legal counsel for L. S. Skaggs in his local small drugstore company. As Skaggs Drug Store grew from a local store front to American Stores Company, one of the nation’s largest food and drug retailers, Jones Waldo’s retail development practice grew with it. For more than 40 years, we have had the good fortune of developing a national, sophisticated retail practice for a number of national retail chains. We have bought, sold and leased property from Maine to California and virtually every state in between. We have handled assignments as small as the sale of excess property and as large as the purchase and sale of retail subsidiaries.

Our group attorneys have a wealth of experience in negotiating and documenting leases, development agreements, easement agreements, and restrictive covenants agreements with the developers and other national retailers, entitlements, development and disposition agreements, and financing agreements with governmental entities, and environmental agreements and wetland mitigation easements in connection with retail development. Because of our extensive experience in representing national retailers across country and because of the relatively inexpensive cost of living in Salt Lake City, Jones Waldo can offer an experienced national practice in commercial retail development at a very competitive price.
