Two Keys To Success: Protecting Company Brands & Technologies & Licensing Software

09/14/2010

In cooperation with Utah Technology Council, Jones Waldo presents:

TWO KEYS TO SUCCESS: PROTECTING COMPANY BRANDS & TECHNOLOGIES & LICENSING SOFTWARE

To successfully compete, companies must always be engaged in the development of new brands and new technologies. However, as the economy languishes, companies may be forced to cut legal budgets
in these key areas. This presentation will focus on strategies for companies to preserve critical intellectual property rights while keeping costs lean, as well as some of the more common mistakes that cause companies to lose valuable intellectual property rights or step into legal entanglements that could have been avoided.

The software a company licenses for its use can be expensive and mission critical. As a result, it is imperative for a company to have strategies in place to protect it in the event the software or service provider turns out to be a dud. This presentation focuses on ways a company can protect itself during the software licensing process and how it can avoid common pitfalls (such as signing “form contracts” favoring the provider). A company can get the software and software services it needs and protect itself at the same time.
