Tim Anderson Presents at the American College of Surgeons Health Care Quality Forum
On Friday, October 3, 2014, St. George attorney, Tim Anderson was a presenter and panelist at the American College of Surgeons’ Health Care Quality Forum held at the Utah State Capitol. The theme of the conference was ”Inspiring Quality: Highest Standards, Better Outcomes” and was centered around the ongoing transformation in the health care industry from volume – based to value-based care as well as transparency in both cost and patient satisfaction. Anderson, whose healthcare law practice focuses on healthcare policy, governance and compliance, addressed the issues of the evolution of quality measures and metrics together with certain strategies and opportunities directed at avoiding the creation of more burdens for physicians that impede their ability to practice. Other panel members were: Dr. Charles Sorensen, CEO of Intermountain Health Care; Dr. Vivian S. Lee, CEO of University of Utah Health Care; Dr. E. Marc Mariani, Chief of the Orthopaedic Division at St. Mark’s Hospital; Dr. Sara Hartsaw, general surgeon at High Plains Surgical Associates in Gillette, Wyoming; Dr. Samuel Finlayson of the Department of Surgery, University of Utah School of Medicine and Dr. Mark J. Ott, Medical Director for Surgery Services at Intermountain Health Care and Professor of Surgery at the University of Utah School of Medicine. Anderson is managing attorney of the St. George branch office of Jones Waldo Holbrook & McDonough, PC and a member of the firm’s Healthcare Law Practice Group and is also a member of the Board of Trustees of University of Utah Healthcare where he serves as Co-chair of the Patient Safety and Value Committee.
