Jones Waldo named Pro Bono Publico Law Firm of the Year
Jones Waldo was recognized on May 1, 2013 as the Utah State Bar Association’s Pro Bono Publico Law Firm of the Year during the Law Day 2013 celebration. This distinction recognizes the work of shareholder George R. Sutton, associate Shane Shumway (formerly of Jones Waldo) and Legal Administrative Assistant Tami Dobbs on an eviction case referred to the firm by Legal Services. The team assisted the client in proving he had not breached the contract with the landlord and that he had clear title to his dwelling.
“We, as a firm, are proud of their efforts and Jones Waldo’s commitment to making legal services accessible,” said Keven M. Rowe, president of the firm. “These three attorneys put in more than 200 hours and more than a year litigating a contract dispute for this pro bono client.”
The theme of this year’s Law Day is, “Realizing the Dream: Equality for ALL.” Events continue throughout the month of May. The luncheon also recognized students and lawyers who have gone above and beyond to serve their clients and their communities.
“Jones Waldo continually supports pro bono efforts of their attorneys and enables them to fight for those who otherwise would have no justice,” said Utah State Bar Access to Justice Coordinator Michelle V. Harvey. “We thank Mr. Sutton, Mr. Shumway and Ms. Dobbs for their tireless work.”
The award was presented by former Supreme Court Justice Christine Durham.
