Jones Waldo Involved in New Medical School Opening in Utah
Jones Waldo, one of Utah’s most enduring and prestigious law firms, is pleased to announce their involvement in assisting a brand new medical school to locate their new facility in southern Utah. Set to open in August 2017, Rocky Vista University College of Osteopathic Medicine’s Southern Utah branch chose Ivins for its new location. Jones Waldo’s attorneys were involved in the efforts to secure accreditation and also assisted with the planning of the project as well as the and variety of municipal, health and real estate law aspects of securing what will be the second medical school in the state.

Jones Waldo attorney Tim Anderson directed the efforts for this project, and as leader of the health law practice, has over 37 years of experience handling all aspects of corporate organization and operations as well as management of litigation. An avid member of the St. George community, he has also been involved in other major projects impacting the Southern Utah area, including Dixie State becoming a four year university. He is also the leader of the firm’s International Practice Group he has served as lead counsel on commercial law projects throughout the EU and in China. He also works in the area of Health Law and is currently the Chairman of the Health Law Section of the Utah State Bar.
“We may not recognize it fully now, but we’ll realize a few years down the road just how significant this announcement is that a brand new medical school campus will be located in southern Utah,” said Tim Anderson. “This will give college students throughout the state, and even in other states nearby, more options for education at very high levels and will certainly add to the great healthcare environment that has been well- established in the St. George area.”
